AniMayhem Brings Anime, Cosplay and Live Performances to Brisbane in Debut Event
A new anime-focused convention is joining Australia’s gaming and pop culture calendar, with AniMayhem set to debut in Brisbane this May.
Running across May 2 and 3 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre from 10am to 4pm each day, the event is backed by the team behind Oz Comic-Con and will deliver a program built around anime, cosplay, gaming and fan-driven experiences.
For Untitled Gaming readers, there’s a clear crossover here. While anime and cosplay sit at the core, AniMayhem is also placing a strong focus on interactive gaming and community spaces, making it more than just a showcase event.
The guest lineup features both international and local talent. PAiDA will headline with a live performance, bringing her dystopia-pop style to the Australian stage following appearances across the US and Japan. She is joined by A-MUSE Project, who will deliver live performances alongside meet-and-greet opportunities across the weekend.
Gaming fans will have access to dedicated console gaming zones as well as tabletop role-playing sessions, offering a hands-on element alongside the event’s broader entertainment lineup. These areas sit alongside Artist Alley, cosplay competitions and parades, and an expo floor featuring exhibitors and merchandise.
One of the more unique inclusions is the Itasha car display, showcasing custom vehicles wrapped in anime-inspired artwork. It’s a niche but growing part of fandom culture, adding another visual layer to the event floor.
Interactive experiences are a key part of the weekend. Attendees can take part in a stamp rally spanning the event, with rewards for completion, while the Brisbane Japanese Language and Culture School will run introductory language sessions. Paradox Studios will also host K-pop dance workshops, giving attendees the chance to learn choreography in a structured setting.
Panels, workshops and live performances will run across both days, featuring a mix of industry guests, creators and community talent. The structure allows attendees to move between gaming, stage content and interactive sessions throughout the day.
Ticketing is split across three main options. General Admission includes access to panels, performances, cosplay activities and gaming areas. Weekend passes provide entry across both days, while the Gear-Up Pass includes a weekend ticket alongside additional merchandise such as an event lanyard, T-shirt, acrylic stand, light stick and cloaking access.
