Melbourne To Host Its Biggest Ever Pokémon GO Fest Celebration This July
Pokémon GO Trainers across Melbourne and beyond are being called to Southbank this July, with Queensbridge Square set to host the largest Pokémon GO event ever held in Melbourne as part of Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global.
Running across Saturday July 11 and Sunday July 12 from 9am–5pm daily, the free community event will bring Trainers together in the heart of the city for a weekend full of raids, trading, community meet-ups and celebrations tied to one of the biggest events on the Pokémon GO calendar.
For a game built around community, this feels like the perfect fit for Melbourne.
The local activation coincides with Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global, which this year will be free for all Trainers logged into the game during the event weekend for the first time ever.
And there’s plenty for Trainers to be excited about.
This year’s event will feature the debut of Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y in Pokémon GO through Super Mega Raid Battles, while Trainers will also be able to complete Special Research to encounter the Mythical Pokémon Zeraora for the very first time in the game.
Across the weekend, Trainers will encounter one of the most diverse wild Pokémon pools ever featured during a Pokémon GO Fest event, with rotating elemental habitats spotlighting Pokémon from all 18 Pokémon types throughout the day.
For collectors, Pikachu wearing Team Instinct, Mystic and Valor hats will also appear during the event, with lucky Trainers potentially encountering shiny versions.
The Melbourne celebration at Queensbridge Square will feature immersive photo opportunities, free Pikachu visors and dedicated community spaces designed for Trainers to connect, trade, raid and explore together throughout the weekend.
Additional bonuses across Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global include:
Increased chances of encountering Shiny Pokémon
Special Research and Timed Research
Up to nine free Raid Passes per day
Expanded Gift limits and bonus trading features
The Melbourne community event will run from 9am–5pm AEST each day, while the in-game global event will run from 10am–7pm AEST.
The event is free to attend and open to Trainers of all ages and experience levels, with thousands expected to gather across the weekend for what is shaping up to be one of Melbourne’s biggest gaming community events of 2026.
