PAX Aus 2025 Brings Magic to Melbourne

The biggest weekend in Australian gaming just got even bigger. PAX Aus 2025 has unveiled a stacked guest lineup headlined by Gavin Verhey, the Principal Magic Designer at Wizards of the Coast, who will deliver this year’s keynote.

For Verhey, it’s a full-circle moment: at 11 years old, his dream was to design Magic: The Gathering cards. Today, he does exactly that—leading the creation of sets like Battlebond, Commander Legends, and the upcoming Magic: The Gathering FINAL FANTASY. When he’s not designing, you’ll find him connecting with fans through events worldwide and his YouTube series Good Morning Magic.

Joining Verhey are some of the brightest minds from across the gaming industry.

  • Josh Sawyer (Obsidian Entertainment) – The Studio Design Director behind Fallout: New Vegas, Pillars of Eternity, and the BAFTA-winning Pentiment. Known for his deep RPG systems and intricate world-building, Sawyer’s appearance is a must-see for role-playing fans.

  • Joshua Mills (Ubisoft Montreal) – Game Director of Rainbow Six Siege, Mills will reflect on the tactical shooter’s ten-year legacy in a special fireside chat. His visit also coincides with the Rainbow Six Siege Asia Pacific League 2025 Major Qualifier, which will be broadcast live from the PAX Arena for the very first time.

  • Lis Moberly (Disney’s 20th Century Games) – With credits on Avowed, Cursed to Golf, and We Went Back, Moberly brings experience in narrative design and a passion for exploring the human side of game development, from burnout to feedback culture.

It wouldn’t be PAX without the creators who bring their communities along for the ride.

  • Good Games Morley Creators – Riley, Aaron, Ricky, and Violet are bringing their tabletop chaos to Melbourne with a live Magic: The Gathering showdown against After Hours, plus meet & greets and more.

  • Jenny Windom (Geeks & Grounds / Wholesome Games) – A champion of uplifting, inclusive gaming spaces, Windom has built a career on thoughtful community engagement, content creation, and her reflective podcast Geeks & Grounds.

These guests join previously announced talent including Amelia Tyler (Baldur’s Gate 3), Luke Dale (Baldur’s Gate 3, Victoria 3), and Ify Nwadiwe (Grand Crew, Dimension 20), rounding out a lineup that spans every corner of gaming and entertainment.

From RPG legends and competitive shooters to tabletop chaos and wholesome gaming, PAX Aus 2025 promises unforgettable panels, hands-on experiences, and the chance to connect with the people shaping the future of play.

Whether you’re a fan, a creator, or just curious about the worlds behind your favourite games, Melbourne will once again be the place to be this October.
